Read these ten clauses before you send us anything. They are short on purpose, and they say the same thing to every person who lands here.
- 1. Who publishes thisDriftwood Chronicle Bookings LLC publishes and maintains driftwoodchronicle.com from an office at 2431 East 61st Street, Suite 415, Tulsa, OK 74136. Written questions about anything below go to landward@driftwoodchronicle.com. Questions about a trip go to tideline@driftwoodchronicle.com or (918) 496-2748.
- 2. What this company isAn independent travel agency. We plan trips and place bookings with the companies that run them. We do not fly aircraft, sail boats, drive vans, own lodges, guide walks or carry baggage, and we never describe ourselves as doing so. Any company that runs part of your trip is a separate business with its own contract.
- 3. Nothing here is for saleNo page on this site takes an order. There is no cart, no checkout and no payment field, and we ask nobody to enter a card number here. Prices shown are the starting figure for a trip as described, in US dollars, per person, and they move with season, party size and availability.
- 4. When a booking existsOnly when the operating company issues a confirmation in your name and you have paid that company or its agent under its terms. Until that document exists you hold nothing, whatever we have discussed by phone or in writing. A figure from us is a quote, not a reservation, and quotes lapse.
- 5. Whose rules govern the tripThe operating company's. Its booking conditions, its cancellation schedule, its baggage limits, its age and party-size rules and its weather policy apply to you, and they override anything general said on these pages. We send you those conditions before you commit and we expect you to read them.
- 6. What the five steps areA description of distance from the last road, nothing more. At-the-door, ten-minutes, an-hour, half-a-day and no-road each state how far the accommodation sits from where a vehicle can stop. They are not a grading of difficulty, not a statement about ground conditions, weather, tides or daylight on your dates, and not an opinion about who should or should not attempt them. What is true of a step in general may not be true on your day.
- 7. Who carries the risk when a crossing does not runThe operating company and the carrier, under their own published terms. Timetabled water crossings on the no-road step and the half-a-day step are canceled and rescheduled by the people who run them, on their judgment, and neither we nor they owe you a departure. Where their terms provide a refund, a rebooking or nothing at all, that is what applies. We will make the calls and put the outcome to you in writing.
- 8. What this company answers forHandling your request with care, quoting figures we believe to be current, passing your details to the operating company accurately and completely, and telling you what its terms say before you agree to them. We answer for our own work. We do not answer for the acts, omissions, insolvency, schedule or standard of any company we book with, and we do not warrant that every figure or description on this site is free of error.
- 9. What you answer forThe accuracy of the names, dates and details you give us, since a corrected name after ticketing costs money and sometimes cannot be done at all. You are responsible for reading the operating company's conditions, for meeting its deadlines, for arranging your own cover against loss and for your own decisions about what you are willing to walk, carry or cross.
- 10. Which law appliesThe laws of Oklahoma and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. This site is directed at readers in the United States. If a clause above is found unenforceable, the rest stands as written.
What you will not find on these pages
- A clock
- We publish no opening times. Whatever you write is looked at before that working day ends; costing a trip out runs to two to four working days.
- A rating
- No stars, no scores, no quoted customers and no counts of happy travelers. We have not published a review on this site and we do not intend to.
- A state filing identifier
- We print no license or membership number and claim no accreditation, because a number on a page proves nothing to the person reading it.
- A promise about somebody else's figure
- We do not undertake to match, beat or better a number you were quoted elsewhere. We quote what the operating company will honor.
- A policy sold against anything
- We sell no insurance of any kind and we give no advice on insurance, visas or passports. Those belong with a licensed provider or the relevant government office.
- Anything written like an article
- No dated posts, no commentary and no reading matter. Every page here ends at a price or a form, and that is the whole design.
Money, and the six questions people ask about it
- What we charge you
- Nothing. The office bills the traveler no fee, no service charge and no deposit. We are paid a commission by the operating company after you have traveled.
- Who takes your money
- The operating company or its appointed agent, direct, under its own terms. No payment passes through us and none is collected on this site.
- Refunds
- Governed entirely by the operating company's cancellation schedule, which we send you in writing before you commit. See what cancellation costs for how that works in practice.
- Returns and delivery
- Nothing is shipped and nothing can be returned, because no physical goods are sold here. Documents for a trip come from the operating company by email.
- Recurring charges
- None exist. There is no subscription, no membership, no auto-renewal and no stored payment method anywhere on this site.
- Currency and taxes
- All figures are US dollars per person. Local taxes, port charges and levies collected at the destination sit outside a quote unless the written quote says otherwise.
Firms that are not this one
Links leaving this site take you to companies we do not control. Their pages, their terms and their handling of your details are their business, not ours, and a link is not an endorsement of anything they publish or sell. Read what they put in front of you before you agree to it.
Two related points. First, an operating company may contact you directly once a booking is made, and from that moment its privacy terms cover the correspondence as well as ours. Second, a fare search tool may at some point sit on a subdomain of this site, run by a third party under its own terms. If that happens, the search results, the fares and the onward booking will belong to that provider and not to Driftwood Chronicle Bookings LLC, the difference will be stated plainly on the page carrying it, and nothing in these clauses will be read as making us the seller of a fare found that way. Until then, no such tool exists here.
Amendments to these terms
We rewrite these clauses when the way we work changes, and we do not announce it. The version on this page is the one that applies to a request made today, so read it again before you send us dates. A change here does not alter a booking already confirmed by an operating company; that booking runs on the terms you were given at the time.
If a clause reads ambiguously to you, ask. Write to landward@driftwoodchronicle.com and quote the number. We would rather answer a question about clause seven now than argue about it in November. For what happens to a canceled crossing in practice, see what cancellation costs; for the steps themselves, how a booking is put together; and for the questions that come up most, the questions people actually ask.
